TWO well-known Devon hotels under the same local ownership have picked up four top awards.
Two Bridges Hotel on Dartmoor and The Bedford Hotel in Tavistock each received two awards from Taste of the West, the regional organisation which promotes and showcases the best food, drink, retail and hospitality offerings in the South West.
The Bedford Hotel was named as a finalist in the overall hotel category, one of just five finalists in the six counties of the South West region.
Following their inspection visit to The Bedford Hotel, the independent judges said: ‘The food is beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The service was faultless with the staff making the judges feel welcome and valued. This is a charming and elegant building with a lovely relaxing ambience.’
After sampling a meal and overnight stay at the Two Bridges Hotel, the judges said: ‘The flavours were delicious and the portions generous. The range of breads and flavoured butters was a good start to the meal. The staff are excellent; attentive but not obtrusive. This is a very pleasant hotel with a proper ‘country house hotel’ feel to it and an ideal place for a traditional, relaxing Dartmoor break.’
